The Electric State is Netflix’s new shot at sci-fi success

They are making the film for the streaming service Netflix and Netflix will undoubtedly throw a lot of money at it. It’s sci-fi, so a good dose of special effects is also needed. A lot, in fact, because it also takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. The film is based on the graphic novel by Stålenhag, known for its good story and beautiful images. We are taken back to the early 80s, but then there has been some kind of attack by the robots and people have lost their entire connection. It is not difficult to make links with this now, looking at the current world and our far-reaching developments in the field of artificial intelligence and robots. And: the combination of it.

The Electric State on Netflix

But we will know next year, when we can see the film on the streaming service, whether this is also the case in the film. Here’s the official description: “The Electric State follows a young woman (Michelle, played by Brown) who embarks on a perilous journey across the robot-infested US, accompanied by a mysterious toy robot and a roguish smuggler (Pratt). Together they unravel a mechanical conspiracy at the heart of the American heartland.”

The Electric State will be released on Netflix on March 14, 2025.
